Monitoring along the stretch of Iponan Water shed and vicinity is conducted monthly by Task Force Kalikasan (TFK) in compliance to the Notice of Judgment/Writ of Kalikasan issued by the Former Special Twenty Second Division of the Court of Appeals, Cagayan de Oro City.

Task Force Kalikasan  members are the thirteen (13) signatories of the Memorandum of Agreement for the Protection of the Iponan Watershed that include identified  National Agencies, Local Government Units, and the  National Police and the Philippine Armies spearheaded by the Mines and Geosciences  Bureau X , DENR 10, Cagayan de Oro City .

Recent monitoring conducted by MGB X, City Environment and Natural Resources Office – (CLENRO), Cagayan de Oro City concluded no signs of illegal mining (Flushing /hydraulicking) activity along the stretch of Iponan River. The team strategized the monitoring by operating a DRONE during the inspection.

Interview with the locals in the area were also conducted to solicit information regarding illegal mining operations, and according to one, Datu Pedro Legaspi, Tribal Chieftain of Brgy. Taglimao, Cagayan de Oro City,   disclosed that flushing/haydraulicking activity in the area has been stopped for a long time already.

To recall, the periodic monitoring along the stretch of Iponan River started way back in 2014, and subsequent monitoring were regularly conducted and un- interrupted.

On top of the positive findings, and facts gathered, it is still recommended that continuous monitoring shall be conducted by the Task Force Kinaiyahan in collaboration with DENR 10-, Quick Response Team (QRT) to ensure protection of the area from illegal mining operations.
