
The Mines and Geoscience Bureau X conducted a series of Retooling Seminar for Mining Stakeholders in the provinces of Misamis Occidental, Misamis Oriental and Lanao del Norte including the highly urbanized City of Iigan .
This learning activity focuses on Mining Laws and its implementing Rules and Regulations concerning Devolved Functions and recent Mining Policies; Rules and Regulations on Apprehension, Seizure, Confiscation and Disposition of Illegally Sourced Minerals/Mineral Products and By-Products, Tools, Conveyances and Equipment used; Updates on Mineral Land Surveys, Responsible Mining and the submission of petinent Reportorial Requirements of permit holders.
It aims to capacitate the participants and level-off the implementing Rules and Regulations of RA 7942 (Philippine Mining Act of 1995), RA 7076 (People’s Small-Scale Mining Act) and EO 79 (Institutionalizing and Implementing Reforms in the Philippine Mining Sector) and the Devolved Functions to LGU; Orient the participants especially the PENROs, CENROs and LGUs on the system and procedures of seizure, confiscation and filing of cases, and dissemination of information relative to the Enforcement of the Environment and Natural Resources Law.
Participants to the Retooling Seminar include representatives comprising sand, gravel and quarry permit holders, DENR PENROs and CENROs, Local Government units (both City and Provincial Natural Resources Offices) and MGB X embedded personnel in PENROs.
