Osin Sinsuat, Jr., Chief Geologist, and Mary Jossel Dispo, Senior Science Research Specialist, attended the Second Stakeholders’ Forum on Climate Compatible Development (CCD) held at Pearlmont Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City on January 27, 2016. The forum was organized by Xavier University and the Institute for Climate and Sustainable Cities (iCSC).
The forum is a part of the Science-based Stakeholders (SBS) series of dialogues which would assess adequate adaptation measures in safeguarding vulnerable areas of emerging cities that has become major hubs for economic growth, innovation, rising emissions and significant climate change vulnerabilities.
The result of the forum will also serve as the benchmark for possible reduction of energy consumption to mitigate global climate change and sustainable urban development to uphold the cities’ elementary functions in times of rapid and unplanned urbanization.
The forum included officials and representatives from the following barangays in Cagayan de Oro City: Barangays 32, 18, 40, Balulang, Bonbon, Pagatpat, Macasandig, Mambuaya, Pigsag-an, Tuburan, Tumpagon, Pagalongan, Besigan, Lapasan, Kauswagan; from the City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office (CLENRO), City Engineer’s Office, City Budget Office; from the DENR, MGB, EMB, DILG, NEDA; and from GermanWatch.
