In pursuance to RA 11469 – an Act declaring a National Emergency Arising from Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID 19) otherwise known as “Bayanihan To Heal as One Act” un-utilized Funds of Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) will be re-aligned by mining companies/permit holders to assist the host and neighbouring , as well as the non-impact mining barangays in their respective localities during the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine due to COVID 19 , Mines and Geosciences Bureau Acting Director Atty. Wilfredo Moncano disclosed in his Memorandum dated March 27, 2020.
Social Development and Management Program is a 5-year Program funded based on the 1.5% of the operating Cost by mining companies/Permit H olders, designed for the delivery of social services and needs for identified mining communities anchored on the following pillars: Livelihood, Health, Education, Infrastructure and activities relating to Respect to Social Cultural Values.
The Mining companies are responding quickly to the Memorandum and being responsive to local dire needs to mitigate adverse impact of COVID 19.
As of April 2, 2020, Matrix below indicates initial/partial report submitted by mining companies /permit holders in Region X through the implementation of the re-aligned Annual SDMP in their respective mining communities to address COVID-19 Threat Situation.
Further details of realigned SDMP funds in support to COVID 19 threat are expected from other mining companies/permit holders in Region X in keeping compliance with RA 11469.
