Fifty (50) participants from the  different PENROs/CENROs including  embedded  personnel,  representatives from  DENR , EMB and some MGB X technical personnel   converged during the  Orientation Seminar on the Guidelines in the conduct of Apprehension, Seizure, Confiscation and Dispostion of illegally  sourced Minerals/Mineral Products  and By-Products, Tools, Conveyances and Equipment used provided under MGB MC No. 2018-01 conducted on August 24, 2018 at the  Philtown Hotel and Restaurant .

The Seminar was aimed to orient the participants on the updated policy guidelines in the apprehension, confiscation and disposition of illegally sourced minerals as provided  under  MGB Memorandum Circular No. 2018-01 and as  presented by Atty. Josephine V. Sescon, OIC, Legal Service Division MGB Central Office, Manila.

Part of the activity was a simulation by the participants on the actual conduct of apprehension, Confiscation and seizure of illegally transported minerals wherein MMD Chief Daniel S. Belderol and MESSDD Chief Engr. Rodante B. Felina were  asked to evaluate/critique the simulated process where they gave their comments and suggestions to improve the process.

Other topics presented include ‘’Integrated Environmental   Crime Reduction Roadmap” by MGB X Regional Director Rex S. Monsanto, ‘’Regional Situationer on Anti-Illegal Mining Campaign “ presented by Engineer Daniel S. Belderol, Chief, MGB X Mine Management Division ,while Ms. Diory G. Carr, Legal Researcher, MGB Central Office- Manila discussed the ‘’National Situationer on Anti-Illegal Mining Campaign, highlighting MGB Efforts on its anti-illegal Mining Campaign in the different parts of the country.

On the part of the proposed Department Administrative Order (DAO)  Defining Coordination and Collaboration of Modalities between and among the Regional Officies of the DENR, EMB and MGB, Ms. Luzminda G. Legara,   OIC, Chief Enforcement Division, DENR X  discussed  the topic on ‘’Selection of Authorized Representatives of the Quick Response Environmental  Teams as provided under Section 3.5 of the proposed DAO.

A  Capability Program for  PENROs, CENROs and embedded technical personnel (geologists/mining  engineers) will be conducted soonest as agreed during the Orientation  Seminar.
