The OIC-Geosciences Division, Osin Sinsuat, Jr., met with officials of the Municipality of Opol, Misamis Oriental at the Office of the Municipal Administrator on July 14, 2015.  The OIC-Geosciences Division met with the Municipal Administrator, Mr. Greg Radaza, and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer, Mr. Romel Lonoy, to discuss the hazard situation of Barangay Bagocboc.  Mr. Sinsuat informed the officials that the mandated government agencies provide disaster information to local government units, and the LGUs, in turn, are the ones that should prepare the disaster management plan.  The MDRRMO informed that his staff were presently in the said barangay conducting ocular inspection.  The officials informed that the municipal government is planning to implement the recommendation of MGB-10 to relocate the residents of Sitio Poblacion of the said barangay.  The same recommendation was made earlier by the outsourcing company, Verum Terra, in its 2013 report.  The MDRRMO requested Mr. Sinsuat to be present during the planned general assembly of Barangay Bagocboc.  Mr. Sinsuat suggested for a representative of the Office of Civil Defense-10 to be also invited to the barangay assembly.  The officials were advised to be prepared for resistance from the local residents on the idea of relocation.  The MDRRMO replied that they expected this especially from the landowners.  Mr. Sinsuat welcomed the plan of the MDRRMO for the municipality to conduct an independent study of the extent of the potential hazard situation of Barangay Bagocboc.  The MDRRMO was informed that the MDRRMO has another problem at hand, that of the Opol Central School in Barangay Poblacion, which the MDRRMO acknowledged.
