Proclamation No. 296 dated July 29, 1988 declared the first week of July every year as National Disaster Consciousness Week.

This was amended by Executive Order No. 137 dated August 10, 1999 and was observed as National Disaster Consciousness Month. This was to provide national government agencies and local government units ample time to implement their disaster awareness campaign with longer focus and on a comprehensive basis.

Executive Order No. 29 dated June 28, 2017 renamed the National Disaster Consciousness Month to National Disaster Resilience Month, shifting its focus from disaster awareness building to disaster resilience. Government efforts and previous emergencies, hazards, and disasters have increased the awareness of the public on the importance of disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM). There is a need to promote the significance of disaster resilience which pertains to the ability of individuals, communities, organizations, and states to adapt to and recover from the effects of hazards and disasters through effective risk management.

In line with the observance of the 2022 National Disaster Resilience Month, MGB-X served among the Resource Speakers in the “Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Related Online Orientation” organized by the City Government of Valencia, Bukidnon through its City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, held on July 7, 2022, and in the “Basic Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Course for media” on July 22, 2022 held in Cagayan de Oro City, organized by the Office of Civil Defense-X.
