The month of July is National Disaster Resilience Month in the country by virtue of Executive Order No. 29 issued by President Rodrigo Duterte on June 28, 2017. Formerly called National Disaster Consciousness Month, the observance was renamed to NDRM to highlight the shift from disaster awareness building to disaster resilience.The 2019 National Disaster Resilience Month was observed with the theme, “Kahandaan sa Sakuna’t Peligro para sa Tunay na Pagbabago”.The 2019 NDRM observance opened with a fun run activity dubbed R4R: Run for Resilience, during the Launching Ceremony on July 1, 2019 at 5:00 a.m. at Kiosko Kagawasan, Cagayan de Oro City.On July 29, 2019, a Disaster Resilience Forum was held at N Hotel, Kauswagan Highway, Cagayan de Oro City.The forum was participated by representatives from regional government agencies and local government units.
The National Disaster Resilience Month culmination and Gawad Kalasag awarding ceremony was held at N Hotel, Kauswagan Highway, Cagayan de Oro City on August 2, 2019. Bukidnon Vice-Governor, Hon. Rogelio N. Quiño, representing Governor, Hon. Jose Maria Zubiri, Jr., delivered the keynote address. Several local chief executives, including Cagayan de Oro City Mayor, Hon. Oscar S. Moreno, Gawad Kalasag awardees, graced the occasion.
