Thirteen (13) Mining operators and Permit Holders in Region 10, thru the Community Relations Officers and Practitioners Association in Region 10 (CROPAX), assisted and conducted relief operations to the typhoon Odette victims in Barangay Alegria, Surigao City in CARAGA Region in coordination with the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office X.

The relief operation was in consonance to the Memorandum No. 011 signed by Mines and Geosciences Bureau Director, Atty. Wilfredo A. Moncano on the Realignment of unspent Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) Funds of every mining company in the country to support typhoon Odette victims. The activity was conducted on January 13, 2022 by the team who boarded a sea vessel carrying the goods that launched a 45-minute sea travel en route the island barangay of Alegria, from the Surigao City Port 2 being the starting point.

The relief goods consisted of basic commodities like five kilos of rice, canned goods, coffee, sugar, milk, chocolate drink, noodles, vinegar, soy sauce, biscuits, bath and laundry soaps. A total of 196 families were afforded based on the list of residents submitted by the Punong Barangay.

The realigned SDMP Funds are from the thirteen mining companies and permit holders, namely:

All the recipient families and Barangay Alegria Officials acknowledged and expressed their appreciation on the relief operation conducted and extended their gratitude to the mining companies and permit holders and the MGB-X for the outreach activity.
