Today’s women should be empowered enough so as to respond to the ever challenging demands of times. She must not rest on the idea that someone has to do something for her. Anchored on these and in celebration of women empowerment with March as Women’s Month, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. X spearheaded the conduct of a seminar on the Salient Features of Person’s with Disability and Senior Citizen’s Act cum Fire Safety Drill last 29 March 2016 at the MGB-X Conference Room.

Michael B. Roa, DPA, Special Investigator III of the Civil Service Commission Regional Office X delved more on to the desired values and attitudes of civil servants towards PWD and Senior Citizens not much on the law. This is because the law has been presented and interpreted so many times but there has not been a total mind shift and changed of attitudes on the issue at hand.

Engr. Alvin M. Villanueva, OIC Chief of the Safety Section, conducted a drill on fire safety underscoring the proper use of a Fire Extinguisher. Participants were given a chance to actually use a fire extinguisher. Engr. Villanueva emphasized that women must be able to equip themselves with these basic knowledge for them to be prepared in events like fire will confront them and no male presence is available. Empowering means having the right knowledge and skills, hence the drill.
