Pursuant to Sec. 8 of Presidential Decree No. 1566 and as an extremely important part in disaster preparedness plan, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. X conducted an earthquake drill and exercise on February 21, 2019.
The primary objective of the drill is to practice timely and appropriate response when an actual earthquake will occur.
At the sound of the alarm, all personnel executed the “duck, cover, and hold” position. As soon as the alarm went off, purposely they all went outside in rows to the designated safe area bringing with them medicine kits and other disaster ready tools. The drill coordinator then performed a head count vis-à-vis attendance of the day to make sure that nobody is trapped or have been left behind.
Earthquake drills and exercises will be conducted quarterly as the law prescribes.
