The Mines and Geosciences Bureau regional office coordinated with the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council of Gingoog, through its CDRRMO, Mr. Marlon Pajo, on the installation of landslide warning signages in the city, along the national highway in barangays Anakan and Punong.  It will be recalled that several barangays in Gingoog City were badly affected during tropical depression “Agaton” in January 2014.  The installation of warning signages is a component of the national geohazard assessment program.

Under Republic Act No. 10121, otherwise known as the “Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010”, the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (LDRRMO) in every province, city, and municipality, and the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Committee (BDRRMC) in every barangay shall be responsible for setting the direction, development, implementation and coordination of disaster risk management programs within their territorial jurisdiction.
