The Mines and Geosciences Bureau, as host of the two consecutive Monday convocation of the DENR-10, on June 22 and on June 29, 2015, took the occasion to deliver IEC on Flood and Landslide Safety Rules to the DENR-10 family.

The June 22, 2015 Monday convocation was jointly hosted by the Office of the Regional Director-MGB, the Administrative and Finance Division, and the Geosciences Division.  Osin Sinsuat, Jr., OIC-Geosciences Division, informed the DENR-10 family that, according to PAGASA, it was “unusual” that the country still had no cyclones when it usually experiences up to 2 cyclones at this time of the year.  The El Niño phenomenon has delayed the onset of the rainy season, which it had initially forecast will start mid-June.  Last year, the onset of the rainy season started on June 10.  PAGASA was expecting the onset of the rainy season within the next few days.  Mr. Sinsuat gave the DENR-10 family tips on Flood Safety Rules.

PAGASA announced the onset of the rainy season on June 23, 2015.

The following Monday, June 29, 2015, was the turn of the Mine Management and the Mining, Environment and Safety Divisions to host the DENR-10 Monday convocation.  This time, Mr. Sinsuat gave the DENR-10 family tips on Landslide Safety Rules.

The Flood and Landslide Safety Rules can be found in the MGB-10 website (www.mgb10.com) under Library Info: Geohazard Info Materials.
