Tropical Cyclone: WARNING

“BASYANG” IS ABOUT TO MAKE LANDFALL BETWEEN SURIGAO AND DINAGAT PROVINCES.
TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING SIGNAL: #2 (61-120kph expected in 24 hrs) affecting Dinagat Island, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Camiguin, Misamis Oriental, and northern section of Bukidnon.
TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING SIGNAL: #1 (30-60kph expected in 36 hrs) affecting Zamboanga del Sur, northern section of Zamboanga del Norte, northern northern section of Zamboanga Sibugay, Misamis Occidental, Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, rest of Bukidnon, North Cotabato, Compostela Valley, Davao del Norte, and northern section of Davao Oriental.
At 7:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Storm “BASYANG” was estimated based on all available data at 80 km Northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur (08.8 °N, 126.9 °E) with Maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph, Forecast to move Northwest at 25 kph
- Scattered to widespread moderate to heavy rains will prevail in the next 24 hours over Visayas, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula and the provinces of Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental, Compostela Valley, and Lanao del Sur. Meanwhile, scattered light to moderate with at times heavy rains is expected over Bicol Region, MIMAROPA, and the rest of Mindanao. Residents of these areas must continue monitoring for updates, take precautionary measures against possible flooding and landslides, and coordinate with their respective local disaster risk reduction and management offices.
- Expected to make landfall in between Surigao and Dinagat provinces this morning (9:00 am – 11:00 am)
- Sea travel remains risky over the seaboards of areas under Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal (TCWS), the seaboards of Northern Luzon and of Visayas, the eastern seaboards of Central Luzon, and the eastern and southern seaboards of Southern Luzon due to the approaching Tropical Storm and the surge of the Northeast Monsoon.

The Provincial, City, and Municipal Governments are hereby advised to take precautionary measures in view of the Tropical Storm. This weather disturbance could have possible adverse impact on the local population, on health, on public and private infrastructure, on the economy.
The Provincial/City/Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils and the general public are advised to be prepared in the event of the occurrence of landslides and floods. The P/C/MDRRMCs are advised to be vigilant and to take precautionary measures.
The Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Committees (BDRRMCs) are advised to coordinate with their City/Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils to plan for any emergency, including identification of safe and suitable relocation sites and/or evacuation centers. These should not be located in landslide-/flood-/hazard-prone areas.
