At 10:00 am today, Typhoon “GONI” (International name) was estimated based on all available data at 2,050 km East of Central Luzon (16.5˚N, 141.3˚E) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) with maximum sustained winds of 140 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 170 kph. It is forecast to move West Northwest at 20 kph.
This typhoon is expected to enter the PAR (Philippine Area of Responsibility) by Tuesday afternoon (August 18) and will be named “INENG”.
However, this disturbance has no direct effect yet to any part of the country within the next 3 days. The Intertropical Convergence Zone will continue to affect the Visayas and Mindanao.
The general public and disaster risk reduction and management councils concerned are advised to monitor for the next update to be incorporated in the Public Weather
Forecast at 5:00 pm today and for the next advisory to be issued at 11:00 am tomorrow.
