TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING: TROPICAL DEPRESSION “SENIANG”

The Low Pressure Area (LPA) East of Hinatuan, Surigao Del Sur has developed into a Tropical Depression and was named “SENIANG”.

Location of Center (as of 4:00 a.m.)   :

340 km East of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur

Coordinates :

7.9°N, 129.4°E

Strength :

Maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center

Movement :

Forecast to move West at 11 kph.

Forecast Positions/Outlook :

Monday morning:
60 km East of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur

Tuesday morning:
120 km East of Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte

Wednesday morning:
170 km West of Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte

Public Storm Warning Signal #1 :

Mindanao (winds of 30 – 60 kph is expected in at least 36 hours)

Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental, Compostella Valley, Camiguin Island, Misamis Oriental and Bukidnon.

Expected landfall: Monday morning in the vicinity of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur and associated with occasional rains with occasional gusty winds and moderate-heavy rainfall (7-15mm per hour).

Estimated rainfall amount is from 7 – 15 mm per hour (moderate – heavy) within the 300 km diameter of the Tropical Depression.

Residents in low lying and mountainous areas of the provinces with PSWS #1 as well as the rest of Mindanao are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides.

Fisherfolks and those with small seacrafts are advised not to venture out over the eastern seaboard of Visayas and Mindanao.

The public and the disaster risk reduction and management council concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 11 AM today.

LANDSLIDE AND FLOOD THREAT ADVISORY
FOR REGION 10 (NORTHERN MINDANAO)

The Low Pressure Area (LPA) East of Hinatuan, Surigao Del Sur has developed into a Tropical Depression and was named “SENIANG”.

The Provincial, City, and Municipal Governments are hereby advised to take precautionary measures in view of  the said Tropical Depression. This weather disturbance could have possible adverse impact on the local population, on health, on public and private infrastructure, on the economy.

The Provincial/City/Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils and the general public are advised to be prepared in the event of the occurrence of landslides and floods. The P/C/MDRRMCs are advised to be vigilant and to take precautionary measures.

The Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Committees (BDRRMCs) are advised to coordinate with their City/Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils to plan for any emergency, including identification of safe and suitable relocation sites and/or evacuation centers.  These should not be located in landslide-/flood-/hazard-prone areas.
