On June 10 and 15, 2021, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Region X conducted an Information, Education, Communication (IEC) on Responsible Mining to Republic Cement Mindanao, Inc. (RCMI) Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) Scholars in Barangays, Kiwalan, Dalipuga, Bonbonon, and Bunawan Iligan City, respectively. The presentation was given by Engr. Rodante B. Felina, Chief of Mine Safety, Environment and Social Development Division (MSESDD). It was followed by the IEC on Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) given by Ms. Virginia R. Verdejo. The activity was limited to maximum of twenty (20) people in each Barangays in compliance to the health and safety protocols.

The presentation comprised interesting facts, benefits, and rules and regulations of responsible mining. It also briefly touched the process of following and maintaining a safe and sustainable mining operation. Moreover, necessary programs were also tackled relating to the welfare of the host and neighboring communities, following a discussion by Ms. Verdejo about the importance and benefits of Social Development and Management Program (SDMP).

Apart from the conduct of IEC on responsible mining and SDMP, a signing of Memorandum of Agreement took place for the new SDMP scholars of RCMI in Barangays Kiwalan, Dalipuga, Bonbonon, and Bunawan Iligan City which was facilitated by ComRel Officer of RCMI, Ms. Nisa Sampaco.
