The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Region X (MGB X) is ending its first semester of 2022 with a blast of festive activities in the celebration of the Philippine Environment Month.
Together with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region 10 (DENR 10) and, the Environmental Management Bureau Region X (EMB X), the month of June was greeted with a sportsfest and a kick-off activity parading around the DENR X compound. The second week was dedicated for DENR’s 35th Anniversary where a grand celebration commenced. Executive games such as basketball and volleyball were held at the Covered Court, DENR X Compound of which the Regional Office was hailed as champion for basketball and the Field Offices for the volleyball game. It was followed by a Dance Sport competition, showcasing talented DENR 10 employees that tagged the Management Services Team as the champion. The third week was then allotted for the opening of Pistang Pamilya DENR where different Filipino games such as the Patentero, Kadang-Kadang, Tumbang Preso, etc. were played among employees. In addition, a simultaneous tree planting activity was conducted in Pagatpat, Cagayan de Oro in celebration of the National Arbor Day on June 25, 2022. Over 2600 seedlings of giant bamboos and narra trees were planted on a more than three (3)-hectare area. Along with MGB-X were personnel from Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region 10 (DENR 10), Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) – Misamis Oriental, City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) – Cagayan de Oro City, and other National Government Agencies and, private businesses and corporations.
Finally, to seal the month-long celebration of the 2022 Environment Month, a whole-day culmination activity will take place on June 30, 2022. Plaques of recognition will be given to Environment Partners of this Agency. The Gawad Outstanding Responsible Operations (ORO) award of MGBX will also be given at the same time, in recognition of demonstrated innovation, and outstanding responsible operations in Safety and Health, Environment, and Social Development (SHES) of Mining Contractors and Permit Holders.
