Amidst the COVID -19 pandemic, withstanding the Health and safety protocols like observing social distancing and wearing of face masks and face shields imposed by concerned authorities, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau X, in its desire to enhance and continually conduct information, Education and Communication (IEC) campaign to its different stakeholders, conducted lecture thru power point presentation to the Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) scholars of Republic Cement Mindanao, Inc. based in Brgy. Kiwalan, Iligan City.
Information dissemination is periodically conducted by MGB X to keep mining stakeholders posted on the latest updates on laws, rules and regulations, policies and trends governing the minerals industry.
On June 10 and 15, 2021, an IEC on Responsible Mining was conducted to RCMI SDMP scholars of Barangays Kiwalan and Dalipuga; and Barangays Bonbonon and Bunawan, respectively. The presentations were given by Engr. Rodante B. Felina, Chief of Mine Safety, Environment and Social Development Division (MSESDD), and Ms. Virginia R. Verdejo, Senior Science Research Specialist. The activity was limited to maximum of twenty (20) people in each Barangays in compliance to the health and safety protocols.
Apart from the conduct of IEC on responsible mining, a signing of Memorandum of Agreement took place for the new RCMl SDMP scholars of the above-mentioned barangays which was facilitated by RMCI Community Relations Officer, Engr. Nisa Sampaco.
