The Minerals Industry in Region X with its continuing effort to support  RA 11469 declaring a National Emergency Arising from Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID 19) otherwise known as “Bayanihan To Heal as One Act”  continually pours in funds to support its mining communities which   are affected with the Corona Virus  (COVID 19) Crisis.

Mining companies/permit holders in Region X were able to allocate a total amount of  P2,328,651.00 out of the re-aligned Social Development and Management Program Funds (SDMP).

To date, a total of two thousand five hundred ninety nine (2,599) families/households residing in the identified barangays  of the Municipalities of Lugait, Pagawan, and Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental,   Sapang Dalaga and Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental   and barangays in Iligan City were already provided with relief goods consisting of rice, canned goods, noodles among others.

Apart from the households, a total of twenty one (21) Mining Engineering students of Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) who were stranded in Iligan City at the start of the Quarantine period were also provided with food bags for their sustainance.

Face masks, globes medical supplies, food packs and mineral water were also   afforded to the Frontliners and Barangay Health Emergency Response Team (BHERT) of Barangay Kiwalan, Iligan City

Remaining amount of the realigned SDMP funds is expected to cater the basic needs of the mining communities amidst the COVID 19 crisis.
