In line with the National Geohazard Mapping and Assessment Program of the DENR-MGB, the program continued, this time, in 2015, with the conduct of the Vulnerability and Risk Assessment (VRA). Two VRAs were conducted in 2015 and twelve in 2016. In 2018, the results of the assessment conducted in 2015 and 2016 are to presented to the cities/municipalities concerned.
The objective of the VRA is to provide additional technical information to the LGU for a risk-sensitive land use and development as well as disaster risk reduction and management planning. The assessment takes into account the area’s susceptibility to rain-induced landslide and flooding.
City and municipal officials are invited to the presentation, headed by the mayor and the vice-mayor.
IEC on VRA has so far been conducted to the following: El Salvador City, Gingoog City, and Lugait, Misamis Oriental; Malaybalay City and Valencia City, Bukidnon; Oroquieta City and Aloran, Misamis Occidental; and Iligan City, Lanao del Norte.
